Street Maintenance Worker

Under the moderate supervision of the Street Maintenance Superintendent, perform semi-skilled work installing, repairing, and maintaining streets, sidewalks, curbs, drainage ways, and related facilities, operating various motorized equipment and related work as apparent or assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with repairing and maintaining streets; repair potholes; set concrete forms; help pour concrete.
Install, maintain, and repair storm drains, catch basins, curbs, gutters, sidewalks, driveways, traffic signs, etc.; install radar speed limit signs and traffic counters.
Mow grass on City property and rights-of-way; blow off sidewalks; operate bush hog and hose on leaf truck to pick up leaves and debris; pick up litter.
Operate equipment such as loaders, dump trucks, rollers, mowers, and various landscaping and street maintenance equipment.
- Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools by cleaning and checking equipment and tools after use.
Prepare asphalt materials for resurfacing and patching.
Purchase and pick up supplies as needed.
Provide traffic control by flagging and/or placing warning/control devices when required.
- Frequent evening and/or weekend work is required; requires 24 hour on-call status for emergency situations.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED and moderate experience in street maintenance including the operation of motorized equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid State Driver's License - CDL preferred but not required.
Possession of or ability to obtain Flagger Certification within one year of hire.
Background check, motor vehicle history, and pre-employment drug screen required.
Minimum Starting Pay $16.58/hour
This position is Full Time, Non-exempt, 40 hours per week and eligible for benefits:
