Peer Leaders by serving as role models for the duration of the academy, exemplify the values and principles of IDEA and the Warrington community: discipline, devotion to service, and caring for others. They will be trained to facilitate activities and interact with scholars to promote positive and impactful experiences. After training, peer leaders will have a broad understanding of the variables that can positively or negatively affect GBLT participants’ academy experiences. Peer Leaders embrace and champion the full range of identities, experience, interests, and ideas that the Gator community comprises. Each Peer Leader will facilitate the GBLT experience primarily by:

Relationship Development

• Intentionally cultivating an inclusive environment for the entire duration of the academy
• Serving as role models for GBLT students and leading with integrity for the duration of the academy
• Providing one-on-one conversations with academy students as necessary
• Serving as a resource and point of contact to students during the academy

Facilitation

• Facilitating large and small group discussions on various student experience and transitional topics
• Understanding the facilitation guide and answering questions from students on the topics as needed

$1,500 Plus free meals, housing, and travel

• Currently enrolled undergraduate student at UF who has completed at least 24 credit hours (at the University of Florida), will be enrolled at the University of Florida fall 2023
• Good academic standing with a minimum 2.0 GPA and good disciplinary standing
• Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week
• Eligible to work in the United States in year-round employment
• Successfully pass a background check completed after employment offer

• Good academic standing with a minimum 2.5 GPA and good disciplinary standing
