The Bedfordshire Wellbeing Service provides a single point of access for Step 2 and 3 interventions, as part of the IAPT stepped care model for the residents of Bedfordshire.

This Apprentice PWP post is a training role within the ‘Improving Access to Psychological Therapies’ Programme (IAPT). The post-holder will work within the IAPT service providing low intensity interventions at Step 2, whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip the post-holder to provide a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self-management interventions to patients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. The post-holder will attend all taught and self-study days required by the education provider (2 days per week), as specified within National Low Intensity curriculum, and work in the service for the remaining 3 days of the week, using their newly-developed skills

The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

The duration of the PWP apprenticeship course is one academic year and will be provided by the University of East Anglia. The apprenticeship starts onThursday 2ndMarch 2023.

It is a requirement for the apprenticeship that you have GSCE or equivalent in Maths and English. Please can you ensure you have your certificates and have these available to show at your interview.

We are looking for motivated individuals to join the team and work towards gaining their PWP qualification through the PWP Apprenticeship.

After the initial induction week, you will attend the University of East Anglia two days a week and work within the service three days a week.

You will be supported to implement what you learn at university into patient work within the service.

You will conduct assessments and treat patients with mild-moderate depression and anxiety in a variety of ways, including telephone and face to face sessions, group workshops and computerised CBT.

You will have weekly case management and clinical skills supervision and have regular contact with your line manager to ensure you have all the support needed throughout your training.

On top of these duties, you will have tasks unique to the apprenticeship tosupport you throughout the year. You will have additional time at the university prior to the training starting, as well as additional work after the training has completed. You will also be given designated Off The Job learning days where you will have tasks set from the university to work on skills necessary for the apprenticeship.
