Job Summary:
In this dynamic role, the Manufacturing IQA Technician will support the daily production activities of FormFactor inspecting incoming mechanical parts, inspect micro-hole drillings in ceramic using a VMM, and drill micro-holes in plastics using a laser-based system. The successful candidate will ensure high-quality inspection of incoming vendor materials, as well as data-gathering functions and/or disposition of material.
Shift: Day (6:00am - 2:30pm, M-F) and will require working OT as needed to meet production demands.
Job Description:
- Performs inspections, checks testing and sampling procedures for product manufacturing processes.
- Carries out packaging line, manufacturing inspections and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials to ensure that company standards are met.
- Monitors critical equipment and instrumentation.
- May draft procedures and assist with validating or troubleshooting testing methods.
- May apply approval or rejection labels to bulk raw materials once analytical data is evaluated.
- Sets up incoming vendor material for in-depth, detailed inspection within a manufacturing cleanroom environment.
- Ability to work closely with a high-powered microscope, micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, dial indicators, etc., in order to inspect parts within small measurement tolerances. Effectively highlights and communicates to engineering groups any sort of issues/abnormalities associated with incoming materials in question which might impact the overall functionality of the product to be shipped.
- Follows production schedules and runs correct priorities.
- Provide clear, concise, effective pass downs with other manufacturing shifts and various support groups. Attention to detail on all paperwork associated with each individual incoming vendor material being measured.
- Strong overall computer skills. Especially proficient on Excel-based spreadsheet software, MS Outlook and Auto-Cad.
- Provides manufacturing input and feedback to other support groups by answering questions and requests from them.
- Identifies and addresses potential areas of improvement within the measurement process.
- Proficient in the use of microscopes, micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, dial indicators, and other power tools and computer-related software/hardware.
- Coordinates with engineering in providing technician support on troubleshooting and resolution of quality-related problems with any incoming materials.
- Interprets engineering documentation, mechanical part drawings, Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), deviations, specifications, and implementation of training on new processes.
Job Requirements:
- 2 years minimum work experience (5 years’ experience would be preferred)
- Visual acuity in working with microscopes in order to report and/or resolve quality-related defects (with either production related incoming vendor material).
- Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed to support production schedule
- Attention to detail.
- Strong basic math concepts.
- Strong communication, reading and writing skills
- Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies and systems a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency level of MS office software products and computer hardware knowledge.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- May require attending training sessions and/or train others within the area on overall/general IQA area concepts.
Working Conditions:
- Sitting, standing, stooping, bending, or crouching for prolonged periods of time – up to 8 hours or more per day.
- Grasping or pinching and manual dexterity.
- Occasional lifting to 25 lbs.
- Work area has fluorescent lighting and air conditioning.
- Moderate to loud noise level.
- Must be available to work overtime and weekends.
- Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements
- Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment for normal shift (excluding breaks) as required.
The pay range for this role in Carlsbad is between $26.90 and $35.35. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
