Summary of Position:
The Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) Operator ensures that inventory is managed and maintained in accordance with CFR Title 19 Part 146. This includes timely receipt of goods, investigation of transactional discrepancies (overages/shortages), and an overall pursuit of all FTZ duty mitigation activities. In addition, this position would also help support the filing of ISF and typical US customs entries. The FTZ Operator will practice informed compliance and reasonable care in international trade operations, while assisting other remote locations, as necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain oversight over all operational foreign trade zone activities. Including audits, bonded exports, receiving/admission 214 submission, and inventory reviews.
- Work closely with other key internal stakeholders including Sales, Finance, Procurement, Engineering and Supply Chain
- Accurate & timely transmission of the Importer Security Filing (ISF) and Customs Entry to US Customs, paying close attention to details
- Work with US Customs & Other Government Agency officials to obtain release of incoming freight and resolve delays
- Adhere to record retention of import documents in compliance with government & corporate regulations.
- Respond to all import related inquiries from external Customs Brokers
- Collaborate and support other team members as workloads demand
- Identify any continuous improvement opportunities.
- Audit commercial documentation for accuracy to ensure compliance with Customs regulations.
- Other tasks as deemed appropriate by supervisor
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent project and team management skills
Basic Qualifications:
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a focus on attention to detail.
- At least 5 years of experience in any of the following, customs compliance, imports, foreign trade zone, freight forwarding OR, inventory control management experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft, Oracle, and PIMS applications.
- Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree or U.S. Customs Broker License required
